Up until now, condition reports for string instruments have been limited to an assessment of their visible external condition. While we can go a step further and use an endoscope to view the interior of an instrument without opening the front plate, it is extremely difficult to accurately assess the instrument's condition based on that alone. Although not very common, some old instruments have been damaged by woodworms, and there are many other issues that are difficult to detect through conventional methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a method to more accurately check the condition of an instrument by visualizing the internal condition, which cannot be seen with the naked eye. The Korean String Instrument Makers Cooperative (https:\/\/ksimc.co.kr<\/a>We are launching a service where string instrument experts diagnose the overall condition of instruments using X-ray equipment, the first of its kind in Korea, and issue certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This service will help form trust between instrument sellers and buyers by allowing them to accurately understand the condition of an instrument before purchasing it. It will also significantly impact accurate repair and restoration work by identifying internal issues within the instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n
